Baseball Recap: Brookstone's Loss Ends 12-Game Winning Streak at Home

Brookstone dropped their record down to 17-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Calvary Christian Knights by a score of 4-3. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 7-2.

Chanwoo Kim spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brookstone saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Turner, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another was Charles Briscoe, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Calvary Christian, they now have a winning record of 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 27th.

On Calvary Christian's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Tommy Irving gave up only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Irving has become a key player for the Knights: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise.

While Brookstone had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
