Preview: Greater Johnstown Trojans vs. Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers
Greater Johnstown is 0-10 against Westmont Hilltop since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Greater Johnstown Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Greater Johnstown has not done well against Richland recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Greater Johnstown enjoyed a cozy 46-30 win over Richland. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Greater Johnstown.
Meanwhile, Westmont Hilltop came tearing into Wednesday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 54-24 victory over Bedford. Westmont Hilltop has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
The victory got Greater Johnstown back to even at 6-6. As for Westmont Hilltop, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
Things could have been worse for Greater Johnstown, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-31 loss to Westmont Hilltop in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Greater Johnstown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
