Recap: Willows Honkers vs. Pierce Bears
The Willows Honkers entered their tilt with the Pierce Bears with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Willows narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Pierce 43-41. This was payback for Willows, who suffered a 31-21 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Willows' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyleigh Goppert led the charge by scoring 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Connie Huttman, who scored 12 points.
Willows' win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Pierce, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Willows will square off against Durham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Durham is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
