Football Recap: Ennis Lions vs. Crandall Pirates
There's no place like home for Ennis, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 42-35 win over the Crandall Pirates on Thursday. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 38-14 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Ennis' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was CHRIS MARTINEZ, who rushed for 122 yards and two scores, and also threw for 153 yards and one touchdown. Those 122 rushing yards gave MARTINEZ a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was WENDERIUS JONES, who rushed for 133 yards and a pair of TDs.
Darrik Ward Jr. and Jeremiah Douglas certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Ward Jr. rushed for 181 yards and a pair of scores, while Douglas picked up 139 receiving yards and one touchdown. Douglas was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 52 yards.
The win got Ennis back to even at 4-4. As for Crandall, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Ennis is set to square off against their familiar foe Poteet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Crandall will challenge rival Terrell at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
