Kellis extended their losing streak to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 4-16. They lost 15-1 to the McClintock Chargers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.
Kellis saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Diego Banda, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for McClintock, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-9. Considering they have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On McClintock's side, Cole Rentschler and Griffin Hopp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Rentschler pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hopp tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Rentschler has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Rentschler went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Hopp went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, McClintock let Alex Remington and Lucas Wisehart run wild. Remington went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Wisehart got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. McClintock is undefeated when Wisehart posts two or more runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Tedoco, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Kellis will square off against Sunrise Mountain at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for McClintock, they will face off against North at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.29 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
