Basketball Recap: Mcfarland Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

McFarland needed a changed in momentum after dropping four straight games and they got it from Mia Samaniego. The McFarland Cougars blew past the Kennedy Thunderbirds, posting a 57-26 victory thanks in part to Samaniego, who went 10 for 24 on her way to 27 points in addition to seven assists and six steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024.

McFarland's win bumped their record up to 9-17. As for Kennedy, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-17.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the McFarland Cougars challenge the Delano Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kennedy, they will head out on the road to face off against Shafter at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Shafter will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Kennedy surely won't give up without a fight.
