Volleyball Recap: Thales Academy Apex Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Thales Academy Apex was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the Cary Academy Chargers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-18, 11-25, 25-11, 25-20.

Evelyn Shock paced Thales Academy Apex's offense, picking up nine kills. Shock got some help from Ellie Hutchinson and her 17 assists. Shock was also solid from the service line: she led the team with nine aces.

Leading Cary Academy to victory were Shayna Goulding and Riley Moore. Goulding had seven digs and four aces, while Moore had six digs and two aces. Those two aces gave Moore a new career-high.

Thales Academy Apex's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Cary Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Thales Academy Apex wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Wayne Christian on the 26th. As for Cary Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cannon at 5:00 p.m. on the 5th.
