Basketball Game Preview: South Spartans vs. Garces Memorial Rams

The South Spartans are taking a road trip to face off against the Garces Memorial Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

South came up into this matchup off a tough 20-point loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of West by a score of 49-46 on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Garces Memorial lost to Mira Monte on the road by a 38-23 margin on Saturday.

Garces Memorial has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for South, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

South took their win against Garces Memorial in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 38-16. The rematch might be a little tougher for South since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
