Basketball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Sutherland

If Elba wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Sutherland, they should've done a better job of containing Phoenix Brown. The Sailors came out on top against the Bluejays by a score of 53-45 on Saturday thanks in part to Brown, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Sutherland's points.

When it comes to explaining why Elba lost, don't look at Addison Wysocki. Despite the final result, she posted 23 points and five steals. That was a full 51.1% of the Bluejays' points, marking the fourth time in a row Wysocki has scored more than a third of the team's points. Shia Rasmussen also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Sutherland and bumps their season record up to 2-4. As for Elba, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Sutherland will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Potter-Dix on January 2, 2026. As for Elba, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-32 loss against Dorchester on the 23rd.
