Soccer Game Preview: Eagle Rock vs. Taft

The Eagle Rock Eagles will challenge the Taft Toreadors at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Eagle Rock is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Eagle Rock is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let USC Hybrid get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. Give the Eagles' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Quinn Powell and Abigail Velez scored both of Eagle Rock's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 37 goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taft). They beat Roybal by a goal, winning 3-2. Carys Barber had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble the Toreadors got from the refs.

Eagle Rock's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those seven matchups. As for Taft, their record now sits at 3-16.

Eagle Rock might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Taft in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Eagle Rock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
