Baseball Recap: Augusta E Gets the Win

Augusta E won the last time they faced Providence Athletic Club and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Augusta E Eagles walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Providence Athletic Club Panthers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Eli Poteet made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Augusta E's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Poteet wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaiden Jacobsen, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Sean Gerdes also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Augusta E's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Providence Athletic Club, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Augusta E will be playing in front of their home fans against Coastal HomeSchool at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Providence Athletic Club, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Providence Athletic Club Panthers take on Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
