Basketball Recap: Deanna Pugh's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Marian Catholic over Schuylkill Haven

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Marian Catholic can now relate to. They fell just short of the Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes by a score of 41-39 on Tuesday. Marian Catholic was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Schuylkill Haven earlier this season, when they won 35-32.

Marian Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deanna Pugh, who went 6 for 9 en route to 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Marek, who posted nine points along with seven boards and five steals.

Schuylkill Haven's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kylie Siket, who earned 13 points. Audrey Hutchinson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Marian Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 20-3. As for Schuylkill Haven, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Marian Catholic nor Schuylkill Haven have any future games scheduled.
