Softball Recap: Wellston Tigers vs. Okarche Warriors
Wellston had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 13-14 to make it eight. They came up short against the Okarche Warriors, falling 6-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.
As for Okarche, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-13. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.
For Okarche's part, Lawson Geheb made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Geheb has posted since back in September of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Callie Cramer was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September of 2024. Chloe Rother was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Wellston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Okarche, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Union City at 4:30 p.m. on October 9.
