Softball Recap: Pierce Takes a Loss

After flying high against Highway 91 on Tuesday, Pierce came back down to earth. The Bluejays fell just short of the North Bend Central Tigers by a score of 11-10 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bluejays of the 10-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Athena Bretschneider was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Jessa Kraft was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Pierce moved to 4-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for North Bend Central, their record now sits at 4-5.

Coming up, Pierce will be taking part in a tournament against Blue River at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for North Bend Central, they will head out to square off against Tekamah-Herman on Tuesday.
