Preview: Canyon Crest Academy Ravens vs. El Camino Wildcats
Having just played yesterday, the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens will get right back to it and host the El Camino Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Monday, Canyon Crest Academy came up short against Escondido Charter and fell 55-48.
The losing side was boosted by Sofia Colon, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Thrisha Boopathi, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, El Camino was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 45-39 to Mission Vista. El Camino has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, El Camino saw an underclassman step up: Alana Hoskins scored 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 48.7% of El Camino's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Vanessa McFerran was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Canyon Crest Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for El Camino, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Canyon Crest Academy came up short against El Camino in their previous meeting back in November of 2018, falling 62-54. Can Canyon Crest Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
