Softball Game Preview: Southern Boone Eagles vs. Kirkwood Pioneers

The Southern Boone Eagles will take on the Kirkwood Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Southern Boone will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

If Southern Boone beats Kirkwood with 12 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Eagles walked away with a 12-8 victory over Hickman on Tuesday.

Brenna Young tossed a big game, tossing 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits.

At the plate, Gracie Britton was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Center, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Southern Boone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hickman only posted a batting average of .250.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Kirkwood's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hillsboro.

Southern Boone's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Kirkwood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
