Volleyball Recap: Independence/Gilmanton's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of four wins, Independence/Gilmanton's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in September.

While Independence/Gilmanton ultimately came up short, they really made Melrose-Mindoro work, particularly in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 22-25, 27-25, 25-22.

When it comes to explaining why Independence/Gilmanton lost, don't look at Danika Ekern. Despite the final result, she had 25 digs and two aces. Ekern has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Independence/Gilmanton's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Melrose-Mindoro, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-15.
