Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Roberto Lopez and Cason Golding Lead Coronado to Victory

Coronado won the last time they faced Montwood and things went their way on Friday too. The Coronado Thunderbirds walked away with a 48-37 win over the Montwood Rams. The victory was some much needed relief for the Thunderbirds as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Leading Coronado to victory were Cason Golding and Roberto Lopez. Golding went 5 of 11 en route to 20 points, while Lopez posted 13 points along with seven boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Golding a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazhiel Herrera, who had ten points and six rebounds.

Coronado's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Montwood, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 20-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Eastwood the next time they take the court. Coronado will host Eastwood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Montwood will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
