Basketball Recap: Ferndale Triumphs

Rockwood came into Monday's contest looking for another win against Ferndale, but Deajah Chatman wouldn't allow it. The Ferndale Yellow Jackets put the hurt on the Rockwood Rockets with a sharp 55-31 victory on Monday thanks in part to Chatman, who went 8 of 13 on her way to 18 points in addition to six boards and five assists. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in steals (five).

Another player making a difference was Finni Mason, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and four steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

Ferndale's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Rockwood, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Ferndale will face off against Blacklick Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rockwood, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Shade at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rockwood is facing Shade at the right time seeing as Shade is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
