Basketball Recap: Northeast Takes a Loss

Northeast played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 51-13 defeat at the hands of the Frankford Pioneers. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 544th, while the Pioneers are ranked 124th).

It was another big night for Janeliss Laboy, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds for Frankford. Laboy has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Zanaiyah Cross, who posted eight points and seven steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Northeast and nudges their season record down to 2-12. As for Frankford, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.

Northeast and Franklin Learning Center will face off at 3:15 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Franklin Learning Center's defense has only allowed 25.6 points per game this season, so Northeast's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Frankford, they and St. Hubert Catholic for Girls will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
