Preview: Saint Joseph Jesters vs. Geffen Academy Bruins
The Saint Joseph Jesters on the road again on Monday and play against the Geffen Academy Bruins at 10:30 a.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Saint Joseph focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
Saint Joseph suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by Crossroads 62-32. While losing is never fun, Saint Joseph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 480th, while Crossroads is ranked 184th).
Saint Joseph's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Olivia Molina, who scored six points along with five rebounds, and Leah Zabukovac who scored five points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Geffen Academy came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against George Washington Prep and snuck past 51-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Geffen Academy has posted yet this season.
Saint Joseph's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Geffen Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
