Recap: Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays vs. Ferndale Yellow Jackets
The Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 47-37 win over Ferndale on Monday. For Conemaugh Valley, this counts as revenge for the 48-32 defeat Ferndale walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Conemaugh Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sarah Miller, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Julia Stiffler, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Ferndale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Deajah Chatman. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with two blocks. Abby Barley was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Conemaugh Valley's win bumped their record up to 2-13. As for Ferndale, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Conemaugh Valley will head out on the road to challenge Conemaugh Township at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Conemaugh Township focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Monday. As for Ferndale, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Shade at 6:00 p.m. Shade is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
