Hutchinson proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 42) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They slipped by the Newton Railroaders 15-14. The Salthawks haven't had any issues with the Railroaders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hutchinson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Robert Hunter, who rushed for 73 yards and one TD, and also threw for 93 yards and one touchdown. The Salthawks also got a significant boost from Karmelo Green, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 103 yards.

Newton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kolbie Espada, who threw for 103 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 62 yards.

Hutchinson's record is now 5-2. As for Newton, their record now sits at 0-7.

Coming up, Hutchinson will face off against Maize South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Salthawks will be up against the Mavericks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33.71 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Newton, they will take on Arkansas City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Railroaders are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
