Baseball Game Preview: Westminster Christian Academy Lions vs. Peachtree Academy Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Westminster Christian Academy Lions duke it out with Peachtree Academy Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Westminster Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Westminster Christian Academy gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Young Americans Christian with a sharp 9-2 win. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

William Greene made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Westminster Christian Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-3 otherwise. Greene was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-5.

In other pitching news, Cole Grantham tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Rhyan Ford and David Norris did most of the damage at the plate: Ford scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Norris scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that Norris snagged this season. David Tingle was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Peachtree Academy, as they earned their first road win of the season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Trinity Christian School of Griffin an 8-0 shutout on Friday.

Westminster Christian Academy's record now sits at 3-4. As for Peachtree Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
