Basketball Recap: Lyons Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

The matchup between Lyons and Flatirons Academy on Tuesday hardly resembled the 31-29 effort from their previous meeting. The Lyons Lions walked away with a 64-54 win over the Flatirons Academy Bison. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 31-29 victory the Bison walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2019.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lyons to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Christiansen, who went 7-for-13 en route to 23 points. Another player making a difference was Zeke Paznokas, who posted 19 points along with six boards and five steals.

When it comes to explaining why Flatirons Academy lost, don't look at Brandon Ewing. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Ewing has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Wilson, who had eight points and three blocks.

Lyons has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points over those games. As for Flatirons Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.

Lyons has already played their next match, a 97-23 win against Gilpin County on the 13th. As for Flatirons Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-41 loss against SkyView Academy on the 13th.
