Basketball Recap: George Washington Prep Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If George Washington Prep was riding high fresh off their 67-44 takedown of Venice last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The George Washington Prep Generals fell 60-52 to the King/Drew Golden Eagles on Wednesday. That makes it the first time this season the Generals have let down their home crowd.

Several Generals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaleyah Lucien, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. Lucien has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 16 times she's played. Jay'La Ray was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 19 rebounds.

George Washington Prep's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-3. As for King/Drew, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. George Washington Prep and Legacy will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. George Washington Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season. As for King/Drew, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Beckman at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
