Basketball Recap: Monterey Trail Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Monterey Trail won the last time they faced Sheldon and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Monterey Trail Mustangs strolled past the Sheldon Huskies with points to spare, taking the game 71-55. The Mustangs pushed the score to 61-36 by the end of the third, a deficit the Huskies cut but never quite recovered from.

When it comes to explaining why Sheldon lost, don't look at Saniah Wiley. Despite the final result, she went 11 of 20 on her way to 25 points in addition to eight steals and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jemiah Mallari, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Monterey Trail pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Sheldon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-6.

Monterey Trail will look to defend their home court on Friday against Elk Grove at 6:00 p.m. As for Sheldon, they will head out to square off against Cosumnes Oaks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
