Softball Game Preview: Latta Panthers vs. Lindsay Leopards

Latta and Lindsay are an even 3-3 against one another since August of 2016, but likely not for long. The Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Leopards at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Latta will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Latta took on Konawa on Thursday. The Panthers were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Panthers have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Lindsay fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Lone Grove on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Longhorns by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Leopards have suffered since August 24, 2024.

Reise Flood spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Lindsay saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nacobi Miller, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Lindsay and nudges their season record down to 24-8. As for Latta, their win bumped their record up to 20-8.

Latta couldn't quite finish off Lindsay in their previous matchup back in August of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
