Marysville can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Monday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 75-24 win over Wheatland. Given Marysville's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Wheatland is ranked 901st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marysville can attribute much of their success to Abigail Pietz, who scored 22 points along with eight steals, and Demi Boykin, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 0 assists. Pietz is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Krystal Briggs, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Lindhurst's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 17th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 42-12 loss at the hands of Center. Lindhurst has not had much luck with Center recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Daisha Edwards-Pennington was Lindhurst's leading scorer, having posted four points.
Marysville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Lindhurst, their defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-17.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Marysville have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 38.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Lindhurst, though, as they've been averaging only 18.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Marysville against Lindhurst when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 90-15 win. With Marysville ahead 70-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
