Basketball Game Preview: Chino Cowboys vs. Corona del Mar Sea Kings

The Chino Cowboys will face off against the Corona del Mar Sea Kings at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Chino comes in on nine and Corona del Mar on four.

Chino is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They breezed past United Christian Academy to the tune of 84-44. The Cowboys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 20 points or more this season.

Chino's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tess Oldenburg, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 16 rebounds. Oldenburg is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was London Gibbs, who posted 17 points and three steals.

Chino was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Corona del Mar beat Yorba Linda 38-31 on Thursday.

Chino pushed their record up to 21-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.6 points. As for Corona del Mar, their victory bumped their record up to 18-10.

Everything came up roses for Chino against Corona del Mar in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 61-18 win. In that contest, Chino amassed a halftime lead of 30-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
