Football Recap: Towanda Keeps Tunkhannock's Under Pressure

If Towanda was riding high fresh off their 43-14 takedown of Sayre last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Black Knights took a 34-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tunkhannock Tigers on Friday. The game was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Black Knights couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Towanda lost, don't look at Jazik Brown. Despite the final result, he rushed for 102 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, and also picked up 36 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Towanda's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Tommy Bowen, Cameron Allis, and Gabe Wolf, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Towanda's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Tunkhannock, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Coming up, Towanda will head out to challenge Wyalusing Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tunkhannock, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Berwick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 10.2 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
