Preview: San Marcos Knights vs. Poway Titans
San Marcos has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Poway Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. San Marcos will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 407th, while Poway is ranked 94th).
Last Friday, San Marcos came up short against Westview and fell 58-45.
Poway was handed a 54-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Bonita Vista on Monday. Poway sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 71-68 win over Bonita Vista. The victory was just what Poway needed coming off of a 86-32 defeat in their prior match.
Katelyn Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points. Allie Hawkins was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
San Marcos has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record this season. As for Poway, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8.
San Marcos ended up a good deal behind Poway in their previous matchup two weeks ago, losing 58-43. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Johnson, who scored 30 points.
