Softball Game Preview: Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes vs. Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs

The Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes will head out on the road to square off against the Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Saturday, Monroe Area didn't have quite enough to beat Dacula and fell 14-13. That's two games in a row now that the Purple Hurricanes have lost by just one run.

Meanwhile, Winder-Barrow posted their closest win since August 29, 2024 on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Sonoraville, sneaking past 3-2.

Riley Cox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Winder-Barrow secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Payton Boothe, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Monroe Area's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. As for Winder-Barrow, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Monroe Area might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Winder-Barrow in their previous matchup back in September of 2019. Can the Purple Hurricanes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
