King is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Port Isabel Tarpons at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
King's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They breezed past San Antonio Memorial to the tune of 47-0. That 47 point margin sets a new team best for the Brahmas this season.

King relied on the efforts of Damarius Montgomery-Buckley, who rushed for 172 yards and four touchdowns, and Isaac Cason, who rushed for 136 yards and one score on only nine carries. Those 136 rushing yards gave Cason a new career-high.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: King was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 365 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive games.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to King's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Joe Palacios.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Port Isabel and St. Joseph Academy, and Port Isabel kept the tradition alive. The Tarpons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bloodhounds on Thursday, sneaking past 34-32. Considering the Tarpons' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
King better keep an eye on Luis Ramos. He was instrumental in Port Isabel's win, rushing for 184 yards on only ten carries. Bryan Ramirez was another key player, rushing for 96 yards on only 13 carries.
King has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.8 points over those games. As for Port Isabel, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Thursday's matchup might be decided on the ground. King has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 238.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Port Isabel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 330 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
