Basketball Recap: Kenna Thomas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Williamson over North Penn-Liberty

If Williamson was feeling good fresh off their 50-13 takedown of Galeton last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Williamson Warriors fell to the North Penn-Liberty Mountie 41-36. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mountie apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Williamson lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kenna Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games she's played. Olivia Meisner was another key player, putting up six points and 14 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Williamson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Haley Litzelman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Penn-Liberty, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Litzelman has scored at least a third of North Penn-Liberty's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Smith, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Williamson now has a losing record at 4-5. As for North Penn-Liberty, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-5.

Williamson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 56-47 defeat against Cowanesque Valley on the 10th. As for North Penn-Liberty, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-42 loss against Canton on the 10th.
