Football Recap: Bernstein's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Bernstein extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 7-2. They walked away with a 28-20 win over the Roybal Titans. That's more bragging rights for the Dragons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bernstein's defense made their presence known, laying out Joseph Lara five times. Roybal's QB won't forget Khiyen Villanueva anytime soon given he sacked him 3.5 times. Villanueva also made six total tackles, which is notable because Bernstein is undefeated when he posts at least three total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise.

As for Roybal, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4. Despite 66 more yards than Bernstein, the Titans couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

When it comes to explaining why Roybal lost, don't look at Lara. Despite the final result, he rushed for 72 yards and two TDs on only seven carries, and also threw for 245 yards and one touchdown while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt. The Titans' leading receiver Isaac Hinson was Lara's top target yet again, picking up 155 receiving yards, while also punching in one rushing score.

Bernstein wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 40-6 victory against Belmont on the 30th. As for Roybal, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 28-7 defeat against Contreras on the 30th.
