With a playoff win on the line, Deerfield-Windsor rose to the challenge on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Brookwood Warriors a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

David Hutchins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Gabe Daniel was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lane Sceals, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Deerfield-Windsor's win bumped their record up to 16-8-1. As for Brookwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season.

Deerfield-Windsor will have a chance to go back-to-back against Brookwood: the pair will be back at it again later today.
