Volleyball Recap: Lutheran Takes a Loss

After flying high against Mead on Friday, Lutheran came back down to earth. The Lions fell just short of the Windsor Wizards by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Lions have struggled against the Wizards recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Gabriella Speckman paced Lutheran's offense, picking up 17 kills. Speckman got some help from Kate Wilson and her 29 assists. Wilson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Windsor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avery Smiley, who had 42 digs and four aces. Those 42 digs gave Smiley a new career-high. Jasmine White was another key player, getting ten digs and three aces.

Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Windsor, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Chaparral on the 1st. As for Windsor, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Rampart on the 1st.
