Recap: Bakersfield Christian Eagles vs. Hanford West Huskies

The Bakersfield Christian Eagles entered their tilt with the Hanford West Huskies with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Bakersfield Christian enjoyed a cozy 52-38 victory over Hanford West on Saturday. Given Bakersfield Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Hanford West is ranked 756th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bakersfield Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Anwyl, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. Anwyl is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Bila, who scored eight points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Bakersfield Christian is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Hanford West, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.

Bakersfield Christian will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Independence at 5:45 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Independence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday. As for Hanford West, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sierra Pacific at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sierra Pacific knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Hanford West likes a good challenge.
