Baseball Game Preview: Grace Christian Academy Cougars vs. Crisp Academy Wildcats

For the second straight game, Grace Christian Academy will face off against Crisp Academy. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Grace Christian Academy's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Thursday. Everything went their way against Crisp Academy as they made off with a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Keith Eidson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Daniel Johnson looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Grace Christian Academy is 6-1 when Smith posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Temples, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Grace Christian Academy pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Crisp Academy, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
