Basketball Game Preview: El Segundo Eagles vs. Mira Costa Mustangs

El Segundo is 0-4 against Mira Costa since December of 2014 but things could change on Saturday. The El Segundo Eagles will square off against the Mira Costa Mustangs at 6:00 p.m.

On Friday, El Segundo came up short against Palos Verdes and fell 53-43. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 360th, while the Sea Kings are ranked 117th).

Meanwhile, Mira Costa had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They took down the Panthers 45-29.

El Segundo's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Mira Costa, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

El Segundo opened the new year with a less-than-successful 42-29 loss to Mira Costa. Can El Segundo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
