Basketball Recap: Western Harnett Comes Up Short

Western Harnett lost against Triton back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Western Harnett Eagles received a blow as they fell 53-37 to the Triton Hawks. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

It was another big night for Nashara McNeil-Watlington, who went 12 of 27 on her way to 30 points and eight rebounds for Triton. That makes it six consecutive games in which McNeil-Watlington has scored at least a third of Triton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Niah Smith, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 10 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Western Harnett's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Triton, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western Harnett will head out to challenge E.E. Smith at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Triton, they will venture away from home to take on Pine Forest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
