Softball Recap: Grand Junction Central Drops Highest Score of Season Against Niwot

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grand Junction Central). They put the hurt on the Niwot Cougars with a sharp 18-6 victory on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Warriors with their most commanding win of the season.

Caitlin Raisch made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emma Grabau and Raygan Ball did most of the damage at the plate: Grabau went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Ball went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Grabau has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Baylee DeWitt, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs.

Grand Junction Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Grand Junction Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Niwot, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Grand Junction Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 18-5 victory against Rampart on the 27th. As for Niwot, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-9 loss against Palisade on the 27th.
