Softball Recap: Pattonville Comes Up Short

Pattonville extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7-1. They lost 15-0 to the St. Joseph's Academy Angels. The game marked the first time this year in which the Pirates were not able to get on the board.

As for St. Joseph's Academy, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-6 record. The result was nothing new for the Angels, who have now won three contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

For St. Joseph's Academy's part, they got a massive performance out of Henley Backsmeyer, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Byrne, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Pattonville will head out to square off against Affton at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.4 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Joseph's Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Maplewood-Richmond Heights at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
