Football Recap: Savoy Nichols Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Belton + How To Watch

University won the last time they faced Belton and things went their way on Friday too. The Trojans secured a 33-27 W over the Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

University's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Savoy Nichols, who rushed for 110 yards and one TD on only 14 carries, and also threw for 207 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 110 rushing yards gave Nichols a new career-high. London Smith also helped with two scores in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: University was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 245 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

University didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Smith and Jeremiah Green. Joaquin Martinez was another major factor on D, making 13 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Despite the loss, Belton still got an impressive performance from Will Shepard, who rushed for 98 yards and one TD, and also threw for 98 yards and one touchdown. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 53 yards.

University now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Belton, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
