Football Recap: Wichita County Skates Past Ness City with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wichita County). They blew past the Ness City Eagles, posting an 82-14 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

It was another big night for Cashton Young, who rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 147 yards and three TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes. What's more, he racked up 161.9 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Young was just one part of a punishing run game: Wichita County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 228 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 228 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Wichita County now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Ness City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Wichita County will head out on the road to take on LaCrosse on Friday. The Indians will be up against the Leopards' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Ness City, they will be playing at home against Trego at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Golden Eagles have now posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.
