Football Game Preview: Wesson Cobras vs. Loyd Star Hornets

Wesson is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Loyd Star is on a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Cobras will welcome the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Wesson 9.2, Loyd Star 8.5) so any points scored will be well earned.

Wesson is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Enterprise to the tune of 48-6 on Friday. With the Cobras ahead 41-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Loyd Star beat Wilkinson County 29-18 on Friday.

Wesson's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Loyd Star, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-0.

Everything came up roses for Wesson against Loyd Star in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 44-12 win. In that contest, the Cobras amassed a halftime lead of 44-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
