Softball Game Preview: Elgin Owls vs. Carl Albert Titans

The Elgin Owls will venture away from home to take on the Carl Albert Titans at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Elgin's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Carl Albert's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Elgin is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Enid just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Plainsmen by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Owls have suffered since September 9th.

Kynli Garrett was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Carl Albert, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Norman 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Titans have posted since September 12th.

The result came thanks to Kynlee Sutton's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bailey Rusche, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August.

Carl Albert has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Elgin, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-10.
