Basketball Recap: Laton's Losing Streak Snapped at Nine Games

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Laton's strategy against Wonderful College Prep Academy on Friday. The Laton Mustangs came out on top against the Wonderful College Prep Academy Lions by a score of 30-17. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak.

Laton was led to victory by Gabriella Alvarado and Samantha Peralez. Alvarado dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 boards, while Peralez posted six points and three steals. That's the most boards Alvarado has posted since back in November of 2023.

Laton's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-11. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Laton will head out to challenge Maricopa at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, they will be playing at home against Del Oro at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
