Basketball Recap: Debbie Smith CTE Academy Takes a Loss

Debbie Smith CTE Academy played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 50-25 to the Sage Ridge Scorpions. The Mavericks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-8.

Despite the defeat, Debbie Smith CTE Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Enzo Casci posted eight points.

It was another big night for Taylor Sullins, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards for Sage Ridge. That makes it four consecutive games in which Sullins has scored at least a third of the Scorpions' points. Endie Prevedouros was another key player, going 5-for-10 to rack up 10 points and six rebounds.

Debbie Smith CTE Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Sage Ridge, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-3.

Debbie Smith CTE Academy and Elko will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th. As for Sage Ridge, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 73-32 defeat against Yerington on the 12th.
